Monodisperse magnetic lecithin-PFP submicron bubbles as dual imaging contrast agents for ultrasound (US) and MRI

Abstract: The magnetic microbubbles with phase convertible PFP core encapsulated by lecithin shell loaded with OA-SPIONs can serve as a potential bimodal contrast agent for both ultrasound (US) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI).

“…Recently, magnetic liposomes have been used as a dual-mode contrast agent for MRI and ultrasound [ 12 , 14 ]. Among polymeric contrast agents, polyvinyl alcohol-polylactic acid (PVA-PLA) microbubbles filled with nitrogen gas and encapsulating SPIONs have been reported [ 2 ].…”

“…Therefore, it can control this phase-transition process by NIR laser irradiation, promoting controlled drug release, and enhanced chemotherapeutic effects ( Sheng et al, 2021 ; Wang et al, 2021 ; Yang et al, 2022 ). In addition, the gas bubble changed from liquid agents could exhibit the contrast-enhanced ultrasound imaging for cancer diagnosis ( Xie et al, 2018 ; Waqar et al, 2022 ).…”
