Moluscos Asociados a Ensamblajes Macroalgales en El Litoral Rocoso De Córdoba, Caribe Colombiano

Abstract: The composition and abundance of the benthic community of mollusks associated to macroalgal assemblages was studied in two ecoregions of the coastal strip of the Córdoba Province, Colombian Caribbean. Between September 2006 and June 2007 four samplings were done in six stations; three in San Antero, two in Puerto Escondido, and one in Los Córdobas. A quadrant of 625 cm2 with five replicates was used in order to collect the material; it was arranged randomly in each sampling period. A total of 1012 specimens an… Show more

“…The limited number of records of G. ovuliformis from along the Brazilian coast can be explained by the incipient nature of studies on micromollusks in their typical habitats there, such as marine phanerogams and sandy bottoms (Rios, 2009). On the other hand, B. varium is typically abundant and is adapted to the microhabitat offered by macroalgae and marine phanerograms, as recorded by Cunha, Güth, Bromberg, and Sumida (2013), Rodríguez and Campos (2013), Queiroz andLongo et al (2014). This demonstrates the importance of macroalgae as a microhabitat available for colonization by species with greater habitat plasticity and as having the ability to recruit in a variety of environments.…”
