This study was conducted at El-Mansoura district, Dakahlia Governorate during September-October 2011 on pea plantation to evaluate the efficiency of certain biocides compared with some Molluscicides against Monacha sp. Land snails on laboratory and field. Results can be concluded that Biogard, Cranch, Protecto and Vertimec were used with 1, 2 and 3 % concentrations as leaf dipping technique. LC50 and LC90 values were (2.84 and 18.75 %), (1.97 and 4.57 %), (4.99 and 25.29 %) and (0.63 and 2.56 %), respectively. While LC50 and LC90 as poison bait fore mention before biocides were (2.04 and 37.3%), (2.08 and 5.97 %), (3.45 and 19.50 %) and (0.51 and 2.13 %), respectively in laboratory. Results of the field experiments showed that the tested biocides reduced Monacha sp. Population density on pea plantation with low values, except, Vertimec (83.32%) after 21 days residue effect. While Molluscicides were the most effective (up to 90 %) to population density reduction of land snails infesting pea plantation compared with tested biocides compound.

Snails and slugs are very harmful pests for crops, vegetables, fruit, ornamental plants, and ecosystem. These creatures are known for destructive nature on cultivated plants. Several species of molluscs such as Achatina fulicva, Laevicaulisalte, Helix aspersa, Theba pisana, Arianta arbustorum, Deroceras, Tandonia, Milax, Arion, Limax, Argiolimax metriculatus, Lehmanniopoirieri, Limacusflavus, Milaxgagates, etc., are the pest which have distractive nature and cause impact on agricultural industries. Therefore, the need for sustainable approaches to control molluscs will become ever-more important. Molluscs' damages are characterizing by holes and slimy on damage part of the crops and vegetables. Snails and slugs both have similar biologies. They lay eggs during mid-autumn to midwinter , when favorable moist conditions return after summer. After mating, these lay eggs within two to four week, spherical pearl-white eggs at moist place. After eggs laying its hatch in two to four weeks, but young snails and slugs usually become sexually mature after one year. However, population of molluscs increases accordingly climatic conditions and damage the crops. Populations of the molluscs can be control by uses of different tools and technique such as physical control, chemical control, biological control, bait formulations and by help of different plant derived molluscicides. This review of literatures tries to integrated information on various agricultural pests (molluscs) and their control.

Land molluscs became one of the most serious pests attacking many plants including ornamental plants. Occurrence of certain land gastropods associated with some ornamental plants at Kafr EL-Sheikh Governorate was conducted. Results revealed that the land snails, Eobania vermiculata and Succinea putris and the land slug Deroceras reticulatum were recorded on the tested plants. E vermiculata was the predominant species while the other identified gastropods showed lower infestation levels. Therefore ,the seasonal abundance of the predominant snail, E vermiculata was studied and results showed that the population of E vermiculata was increased during spring months (171.99 snails/ 1 / 2 m 2 ) as compared to summer and autumn (149,34 and 59,33),respectively whereas the infestation was the least during winter (40.67 snails/ 1 / 2 m 2 ). Malabar was superior among the tested plants since it attracted the highest number of snails with mean of (5.68 ± 1.56) snails/ 1 / 2 m 2 followed by Hlibiscus, basil, kockia, DustyMiller, Manitoka and Royal palm, respectively. Both of Pricharida and Duranta were the least attractive to snails. Concerning the efficacy of certain pesticides against E vermiculata under field conditions, Data revealed that Agrinate was more toxic to snails than the other pesticides, since it achieved the highest reduction percentage of snail population of (69.03 ± 7.2 ) % followed by Vicarb with reduction of (55.87 ± 6.8)% while Uphold was the least in this respect with reduction percentage of (25.41±2.6)%.
