“…From the results that have been reported, it would appear that calculation from the amino acid composition according to the method of Schachman [38] may be more reliable than the values obtained by pycnometry. For enterotoxin B, the value of 0.726 reported by Bergdoll et al [9] and the value of 0.731 reported by Spero et al [43], both calculated from the respective amino acid compositions determined by the two groups are lower than the value, 0.743, obtained by pycnometry by Wagman et al [45]. Schantzl on rechecking the partial specific volume for enterotoxin B reports that the experimental value he obtained by pycnometry was 0.730 which is in agreement with the values calculated from the amino acid composition.…”

“…The particle effective diffusivity for SEB ( D p ) in Toyopearl beads has been determined experimentally to be 4.83 × 10 ‐ 11 m/s (17). Comparing with the free molecular diffusivity of SEB ( D m = 7.70× 10 ‐ 11 m/s) (23), the tortuosity for SEB in the resin is 1.59, a relatively small value probably due to the large (1000 Å) pores of the Toyopearl 650 M resin.…”
