“… On the other hand, a first principles study of the vibrational features of hydroxylapatite and type A carbonated apatite was performed by Ulian et al , and Raman spectroscopy was employed to investigate the interactions of bovine bone, HAP, and calcium hydrogen phosphate with the HEDP bisphosphonate, being shown the feasibility of using Raman spectroscopy to distinguish between different complexes formed at the solid/solution interface. Juillard et al studied the molecular interactions between zoledronic acid and bone tissue by using Raman microspectroscopy, finding new and useful information on the impact of zoledronic acid on bone composition at the molecular level to understand how bisphosphonates improve bone strength. Iafisco et al , by the way, have carried out surface‐enhanced Raman spectroscopy to assess the adsorption of myoglobine on HAP nanocrystals functionalized with alendronate, revealing that the covering of nano‐HAP crystals by alendronate inhibits the adsorption of myoglobin.…”

“…Several studies illustrate that the fixation of BP is accompanied by the release of some elements from the adsorbent surface such as the liberation of silicon and phosphorus. As reported by several authors [34,35] for other BP, it can be postulated that risedronate species participate in an ionic exchange process with active mineral ions on the surfaces of bioactive glass, particularly silicon, which share the same ionic sites at the surface. Silicon intervenes in several physicochemical properties after its immersion in the SBF solution or after its in vivo experiment.…”

“…Our group concluded that the combination of FT-IR and NIR spectroscopy was more powerful than FT-IR, NIR or Raman spectroscopy alone to discriminate genuine from illegal Viagra ® samples [8]. X-ray powder diffraction [9], NMR ( 1 H, 13 C, 15 N) [10], and NMR (2D DOSY, 3D DOSY-COSY, 1 H NMR) [11] were also used to detect counterfeit Viagra ® . However, compared to the first cited techniques, X-ray diffraction and NMR necessitate a more elaborated sample preparation and are therefore only performed by well trained analysts.…”

“…Raman microspectroscopy imaging is widely used in the biomedical field. Among others, it has been recently used to predict the cellular response to cisplatin in lung adenocarcinoma [12] and to study the molecular interactions between zoledronic acid and bone [13]. It is also used in the pharmaceutical field since it necessitates a negligible sample preparation (e.g.…”
