Sennaobtusifolia (L.) is a plant in the genus Senna that contributes to improving nutritional quality, food security, and better health protection for rural populations. However, very few studies have been devoted to it in Burkina Faso. Consequently, its genetic diversity remains poorly known. Such neglect would lead to the erosion of its genetic resource. The general objective of this study is to contribute to a better knowledge of the genetic diversity of the species in order to be able to issue scientific bases for its conservation, valorization, and genetic improvement. Sixty (60) accessions of Senna obtusifolia were collected in the wild from five provinces of three climatic zones of Burkina Faso. Molecular characterization was carried out using 18 SSR markers. Fifteen were polymorphic microsatellite markers leading one hundred and one (101) alleles in total, with an average of seven (7) alleles per locus. The number of effective alleles was 2.33. Expected heterozygosity, Shannon diversity index, and polymorphism information content averaged 0.47, 1.05, and 0.47. Molecular characterization revealed the existence of genetic diversity within the collection. This diversity has been structured into three genetic groups. Genetic group 3 presents the highest genetic diversity parameters.

The extent of uncertainty caused by price inefficiency and instability with reference to Bambara groundnut has made the subsector a dicey one. Markets that are not integrated may convey inaccurate price signals that might distort producers’ marketing decisions and contribute to inefficient product movement. The study analyzed the market integration of Bambara groundnut in South-east, Nigeria. The study population comprised all Bambara groundnut marketers in South-east, Nigeria. Out of the five states in South-east, Nigeria, two States will be purposively selected as the study area to establish the movement of prices between the two states to establish a fair comparison of prices between the producing zone and consumption zone. The choice of the two states was based on the predominance of Bambara groundnut marketers. A two-stage sampling technique was adopted in selecting 221 respondents that were interviewed for the study. Data for this study was poised from primary sources using a well-structured questionnaire, oral interviews and direct observations of Bambara groundnut marketers and was analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics.- The results of the VECM showed that Enugu urban retail prices had a short-run influence of -0.057 although not signicant and a long-run significant influence of -0.2391 on Abia urban retail prices. The results of the VECM estimates for both short-run and long-run relationships indicated that the Enugu rural price of Bambara groundnut had short-run influences of -0.034023 and 0.0032032 with a long-run influence of -0.203230 on Abia rural price. The study recommended that to improve pricing effectiveness and market integration, it is necessary to encourage Bambara groundnut market price information in South-east Nigeria. The flow of information regarding Bambara groundnut prices, demand, and supply will improve both market integration and pricing effacing. Aims: Senna obtusifolia (L.) is an important wild herbaceous species for subsaharan Africa population. It is used in human food and traditional medicine to treat several deseases. In Burkina Faso, despite its potentialities, this species is of a little interest in scientific research. The aim of this study is to provide a good knowledge of the genetic diversity of this species. Study Design: The experimental design used was a randomized Fischer block type with three replications. Place and Duration of the Study: The study was carried out at Gampéla during 2018 rainy season. Methodology: Seventy (70) accessions of Senna obtusifolia were used for the evaluation of agromorphological variability. A total of twenty-seven (27) quantitative traits were studied. Results: The study revealed the existence of a great variability within the studied collection. Among the twenty-one (21) traits used for the analysis of variance (ANOVA), seventeen (17) variables significantly discriminate the accessions. A high heterogeneity was observed for the number of leaflets of the three first leaves and the number of floral pieces. In addition, significant correlations were observed between several variables. Indeed, the number of primary branches was positively correlated with the number of fruits per plant (r = 0.483), the number of grains per plant (r = 0.352) and the leaves biomass (r = 0.279). However, the number of days at flowering (NJF) is negatively correlated with the number of primary branches (r = -0.281). The variability obtained was structured in three groups. The third group is composed of accessions with the best agronomic performance that could be used in future breeding program. Conclusion: A high agromorphological diversity of Senna obtusifolia was observed and could be used in a breeding program.
