“…The STAT6-NAB2 fusion product results from an inversion at the 12q13 locus inducing expression of early growth response (EGR) mediated pathways (15). These fusions have been demonstrated by polymerase chain reaction to be present in 91% of SFT, with absence of this function in potentially histologically similar appearing tumors (44). This fusion may also be detected by a break-apart fluorescent in situ hybridization probe, seen in 58% of cases in one study (45).…”

“…However, we considered the possibility of SFT being diagnosed simply through STAT6. Literature from the past 5 years was searched, and we found that STAT6 immunohistochemistry has high specificity for SFT and that the diagnostic value of strong and diffuse nuclear expression of STAT6 in SFT has been proven . It was also found that STAT6 is a dependable marker to differentiate SFT from myofibromas .…”

[18][19][20] It was also found that STAT6 is a dependable marker to differentiate SFT from myofibromas. 21 At the same time, follicular lymphomaassociated STAT6 mutations facilitate nuclear residency of STAT6, 22 while nuclear localization of STAT6 is also dramatically increased in Kaposi's sarcoma tissue.…”

“…The positive rates were 96.8% (60/62) and 100% (49/49), indicating that STAT6 has a higher sensitivity for SFT detection. STAT6 test results are of great value for diagnosis, especially for CD34‐negative SFT cases . However, we should know that STAT6 immunohistochemistry staining could not replace the detection of the NAB2‐STAT6 fusion gene completely.…”
