Molar response of polychlorinated dibenzo-p-dioxins and dibenzofurans by the mass spectrometric detector

Abstract: The mass spectrometric detector (MSD) with electron Ionization gives a molar response for CI"DD/CI,DF ( = 1-8).This response does not depend on the position or the number of chloride atoms but on the molecular skeleton of the CljDD/ CljDF alone. The ratio of the molar response of CIJ)F to CljDD Is 1.35 ± 0.1. The carbon skeleton based molar response of the MSD can simplify the quantitation of CljDD/ CljCF and other arenes In GC/MSD substantially.
