MOF-derived TiO2 modified with g-C3N4 nanosheets for enhanced visible-light photocatalytic performance

Abstract: A g-C3N4/TiO2 heterojunction was prepared for the first time using a mechanical agitation method assisted by a template method and a two-step calcination method.

“…PL emission spectra of TiO 2 and its composites were computed from 410 to 520 nm with an excited wavelength of 350 nm at room temperature, as illustrated in Fig. 6 a. Spectra unveiled migration and electron–hole (e − to h + ) pairs recombination efficiency [ 40 ]. Characteristic peak of TiO 2 at 455 nm showed the highest recombination of e − to h + pairs which significantly limited PCA of TiO 2 whereas recombination rate was decreased upon co-doping (N and C 3 N 4 ).…”

“…Meanwhile, some specific products in CO 2 photoreduction can easily desorb from the surfaces of certain nanosheets, resulting in a high selectivity in reaction. [ 215–217 ] A large variety of monocomponent and multicomponent hybrid nanosheets were prepared to maximize these advantages in CO 2 reduction.…”

“…The g-C 3 N 4 is a visible light active photocatalyst [34]. The proportional addition of g-C 3 N 4 to the TiO 2 in GNT composite shows a redshift from 394 to 471 nm (GNT-1), which increases the visible-light absorption than bare TiO 2 [35,36]. So, we can conclude that there is the evolution of a well-built interface connecting the g-C 3 N 4 and TiO 2 phases and causing GNT composite to move to the lower energy region presided by an increase in photocatalytic activity [37,38].…”
