Modular Construction of an MIL-101(Fe)@MIL-100(Fe) Dual-Compartment Nanoreactor and Its Boosted Photocatalytic Activity toward Tetracycline

Abstract: Iron-based metal–organic frameworks (MOFs) have aroused extensive concern as prospective photocatalysts for antibiotic (e.g., tetracycline, TC) degradation. However, efficiencies of single and simple Fe-based MOFs still undergo restricted light absorption and weak charge separation. Assembly of different iron-based MOF building blocks into a hybrid MOF@MOF heterostructure reactor could be an encouraging strategy for the effective capture of antibiotics from the aqueous phase. This paper reports a new-style MIL… Show more

“…Figure A exhibits obvious characteristic peaks of Zn, Fe, O, N, C, and Si from the composite nanoparticles, further proving the successful combination of Fe 3 O 4 , ZIF-8, and SiO 2 . In the XPS spectrum of Fe 3 O 4 @ZIF-8@SiO 2 , the two peaks at 708 and 722 eV correspond to Fe 2p 3/2 and Fe 2p 1/2 valence states of Fe and the two peaks at 1020 and 1044 eV correspond to Zn 2p 3/2 and Zn 2p 1/2 , respectively. , The weight percentage of metals in Fe 3 O 4 @ZIF-8@SiO 2 obtained by ICP is shown in Table S1. Composite nanoparticles have two metals, that is, Fe and Zn.…”
