Modified amplitude adaptive control algorithm for power quality improvement in multiple distributed generation system

Abstract: This study deals with the modified amplitude adaptive notch filter (AANF)-based control algorithm for managing the generated power from different energy sources in an autonomous microgrid. In this study, the autonomous microgrid consists of a wind energy conversion system, photovoltaic array and a storage battery. The main objective of the proposed modified AANF (MAANF)-based control algorithm is to control the flow of active and reactive powers among the different energy sources and the load, along with the r… Show more

“…Eventually, the power electronic components cause several undesirable reflective quality issues in distributive systems. 2 The effects caused by the non-linear V-I characteristics of the power electronics semiconductor components are severe in long-term evolutions of IoT. Such non-linear loads result in generation of undesirable harmonics in current distribution and degrades the power quality in utility networks.…”

“…However, the above‐mentioned control techniques have shown some drawbacks like large steady‐state oscillations and higher settling time of WCC in LMS‐based control. In a case of LMF‐based control, the convergence speed of WCC is slow under load unbalancing condition [16, 17]. However, combined LMS–LMF‐based control is used to overcome the demerits of LMS and LMF control.…”

“…Particularly, the use of flexible links or interties in distribution networks to interconnect adjacent radial feeders, commonly referred to as distribution flexible ac transmission systems (D‐FACTS) [2], have demonstrated their potential to maximise the integration of DERs and the efficiency of the distribution network [3]. Among other functionalities, these allow controlling the active and reactive power flows between the interconnected feeders [4], voltage control at the point of common coupling (PCC) [5], active filter functionalities [6] and imbalance compensation in the distribution network.…”
