Modification of leather properties by grafting. I. Effect of monomer chain on the physico‐mechanical properties of grafted leather

Abstract: ABSTRACT:Although leather has a number of desirable properties such as thermal stability and fire retardancey, in addition to high toughness, it has a few drawbacks such as weight, high water absorption, poor soil and rot resistance, and nonuniformity. If these defects are overcome, leather's usefulness would be further enhanced and its competitive position with respect to synthetics would increase. This study reports the physical and mechanical properties of buffalo leather after chemical graft copolymerizati… Show more

“…However, the majority of these researches focused on grafting of various monomers onto leather such as styrene 12 and acrylate monomer derivatives. [13][14][15] Unfortunately, from the environmental and economical point of view, most of monomers used in grafting process are costly in financial terms and dangerous in nature, in addition to the use of organic solvents as a medium for dissolving the monomers during the grafting process, which is not suitable for application in leather industry. For these reasons, the leather industry has issued laws and legislations for reagents used in leather industry must be safe and friendly to environment.…”

“…As you age, your body naturally loses its ability to rebuild the collagen, but avocado seed oil helps to naturally restore it. Collagen helps to improve the overall tone of the skin by getting rid of wrinkles, dry flaky skin, cellulite and sclerosis of the skin [16][17][18][19][20].…”
