Modeling the effect of days and road type on peak period travels using structural equation modeling and big data from radio frequency identification for private cars and taxis

Abstract: Purpose: The main congestion on roads occur during peak hours, apart from incidents such as road accidents and construction works. Although there have been studies on peak period travels, these studies have only implicitly considered weekday, weekend and road type in their investigations. In this paper, it is proposed to investigate explicitly, the effect of weekday and weekend travel variability and road type on peak hour vehicular movement which leads to congestion. A study of vehicular movement patterns dur… Show more

“…In Table 1 , ordered by year of publishing, studies that considered the peak traffic period focused mainly on the crash risk or consequences produced per hour or over other periods [ 4 , 5 , 6 , 7 , 17 , 18 , 19 , 20 ]. In a single-vehicle model, the injury severity among drivers meeting with accidents on rural highways during the busy harvest periods was found likely to be non-incapacitating [ 21 ].…”

“…Biorąc pod uwagę wyniki badań przeprowadzonych w innych światowych ośrodkach, tylko okres porannego szczytu przewozowego jest zbliżony do tego zidentyfikowanego w niniejszym opracowaniu. W literaturze zagranicznej okres popołudniowego szczytu przewozowego występuje w późniejszych godzinach -zwykle zaczyna się od ok. 16:00 i trwa do ok. 20:00, a nawet 21:00 (Cervero, 1986;Chen i in., 2009;Yu, He, 2017;Zhao i in., 2017;Wemegah, 2018) 6 . Wraz z upowszechnienia tzw.…”
