Due to the wide spread use of household cooker burner, optimal design of these equipment can significantly reduce the natural gas consumption which consequently leads to energy consumption reduction, emissions reduction, and economic benefits. Shape of cooker-top and swirl angle are the most important effective factors on performance of domestic cooker burner. This paper investigates the impact of swirling the output port on performance of the burner, numerically. In this regard, four types of burners are three-dimensionally modeled and compared to determine the optimal port swirl angle based on burner temperature, heat transfer rate and pollutant emissions. Results show that the optimum swirl angle for output port is 20º where the maximum combustion temperature and desired heat transfer and pollutant emissions are obtained. The maximum burner head temperature for non-swirled burner is equal to 1610 K while for swirl angle of 20º, in addition to pollutant emissions reduction, the maximum burner head temperature of 1673 K is obtained. It is also concluded that the turbulence dissipation of flow increases by swirling the cooker-top burner.

Today, energy generation from renewable energy sources is of great interest. Photovoltaic (PV) systems, in this regard, have much to offer, but they suffer from low efficiency, which further deteriorates due to overheating under insolation. So, they need removal of heat from their bodies for better efficiency, which resulted in the introduction of PV-Thermal (PVT) systems, which feature heat transfer fluids (HTF) to draw the heat and deliver it to other systems that make use of it. Nevertheless, the best HTF has yet to be developed. Water-based fluids with additives or nanoparticles seemed like a good choice until HTFs that featured the use of encapsulated phase change materials (ePCM) were proposed. The findings of early studies and subsequent research revealed that the use of ePCM slurries (ePCM-Ss) as the working fluid in PVT systems increased the thermal efficiency, electrical efficiency, and overall efficiency without a notable increase in pumping power. However, preparation of ePCM-Ss is much more complex in many aspects compared to conventional HTFs, as it involves numerous parameters, including but not limited to the use of various shell and core materials, the variety of production methods, the homogeneity of the resulting capsules, the use of additives, the core to shell ratio, and the mass fraction of ePCM in the slurry. All these require an extensive and exhaustive study with quite a lot of background knowledge and interdisciplinary collaboration, as the proper selection of PCM materials and synthesis methods, as well as the correct concentration in the best CF, involve several aspects and expertise in a number of other fields. These parameters also significantly diversify and differentiate ePCM-S by affecting its suspension stability, rheological properties, and thermal properties. In recent years, PCMs have become an attractive research field for researchers due to their advantages. Although there are quite a number of studies addressing ePCM-S, none provide a holistic approach, and they just deal with a certain aspect of this broad topic. This study, therefore, aims to constitute a fundamental guide to refer to from the very beginning to the final implementation of the ePCM-Ss as the working fluid in PVT systems by addressing all steps, aspects, and almost all effective parameters in terms of advantages, disadvantages, challenges, and opportunities.

In a Fresnel-based Concentrated Photovoltaic system, multi junction solar cells suffer from increased PV temperature, resulting in a decrease its electrical efficiency. This study design to investigate the influence of using Water/Al2O3 Nanofluid as cooling fluid on heat transfer enhancement and top surface temperature for multi-junction solar cell in the Fresnel-based Concentrated Photovoltaic thermal CPVt System. The CFD simulation was conducted on mini-channel under the concentrated multi-junction solar cell with using water/Al2O3 Nanofluid and pure water as coolant fluids. The Reynolds number is in the range of 15000-30000 were examined. The average Nusselt numbers augmented through increasing Reynolds numbers. The water/Al2O3 Nanofluid provides highest heat transfer enhancement of 23% compare with water in Fresnel-based CPVt system. The top surface temperature decreases as Nusselt number increases. The Nuavg improves 21% with using of water/Al2O3 Nanofluid at lowest Reynolds number of 15000 and 23% at highest Reynolds number of 30000.The top surface temperature dropped from 337K to 327K at lowest Reynolds number of 15000 with using Water/Al2O3 Nanofluid as cooling fluid and from 323K to 315K at highest Reynolds number of 30000.This study has confirmed that the use of water/Al2O3 Nanofluid has significant influence on the dissipate the heat from Multi-Junction Solar Cell in Fresnel-based CPVt system which led to improve its electrical efficiency.
