Modeling Lean and Six Sigma Integration using Deep Learning: Applied to a Clothing Company

Abstract: Implementation of Lean and Six Sigma methodologies enable companies to boost their competitiveness and their efficiency. However, the adoption of these approaches is very much restricted in the Textile and Clothing sector in Morocco. In fact, despite all the advances in these methodologies and practical approaches, defining a rational implementation strategy such as the adequate chronology and the prediction of the expected success level are still a part of a fierce debate and an impediment for practitioners. … Show more

“…• Hyperparameter tuning: Hyperparameter tuning is a crucial step in optimizing the performance of machine learning models. It assists in adjusting complexity and controlling the learning process of the model, thereby resulting in optimized performance and efficient use of resources (Elboq et al, 2023). In this work, we used Bayesian Optimization techniques, which is a well-known strategy for hyperparameter tuning for many machine learning tasks (Turner et al, 2021;Wang et al, 2020).…”

“…For instance, some of them refer to the successful implementation of the value stream map to identify inefficiency in garment (Kumar et al, 2020), textile (Hussain and Figueiredo, 2023) and leather shoe (Reda and Dvivedi, 2022) industries. Others focus on the combination of Lean tools with autonomous maintenance to provide continuous improvement in the field, with case studies in textile companies (Kose et al, 2022) or combining them with deep learning to guide companies towards their effective implementation in real context, such as clothing companies (Elboq et al, 2023). Also, several contributions of I4.0 applications can be found.…”

“…In their study, Elboq et al have used Lean six sigma tools together with deep learning in a textile company. This study provided significant improvements to the company through the utilization of critical success factors (Elboq et al , 2021). In addition, various researchers have used methods such as artificial neural networks, machine learning and deep learning to increase productivity in various sectors and achieved significant gains through their studies (Dhuria et al , 2017; Sebatlı Sağlam and Çavdur, 2021; Olayode et al , 2022).…”
