Modeling and Static Analysis of Primary Consequent-Pole Tubular Transverse-Flux Flux-Reversal Linear Machine

Abstract: Abstract:A novel primary consequent-pole tubular transverse-flux flux-reversal linear machine (TTFFRLM) is proposed in this paper. The permanent magnets (PMs) of the machine are located on the inner surface of the short teeth of the primary iron cores for reducing the amount of PM in long stroke drive systems, and the primary is easily manufactured. The structure and principle of this machine are analyzed in detail. Based on the unit machine, a no-load equivalent magnetic circuit model is established by using … Show more

“…The authors also mention that due to the partitioned-primary structure, the PM immunity is also improved, as the flux from the primary coils is not directly applied to the magnets. Transverse-flux LFRPMs are also proposed in the literature in order to improve the thrust density of these machines [135], [137], [142]- [144]. A comprehensive analysis of a transverse-flux LFRPM is published in [137].…”

“…It is a known issue that transverseflux machines require 3D FEM simulations to analyse their performance. In this aspect, Dong et al [142] propose a 2D FEM equivalent model for the analysis of a transverse-flux LFRPM. The measurements obtained with a prototype show a good agreement between predicted and measured values.…”

“…TFMs, together with Vernier, flux-switching and flux-reversal machines can be seen as "flux-modulation reluctance electric machines" [2] or "magnetically-geared machines" with a "single mechanic port" [3]. Furthermore, it is possible to combine some features of different machines: for example, a Vernier TFM is proposed in [4], flux-switching TFMs are presented in [5][6][7][8][9][10] and fluxreversal TFMs are proposed in [11][12][13] .…”

“…The references include papers that present different approaches to decreasing computational complexity of the numerical aided design process of the machines with permanent magnets [15,16]. in references [17][18][19][20][21]. The results of the analyses done with the two-dimensional Finite Element Method (FEM 2D) for the TFM type machines were presented and discussed.…”
