We use a two-scale continuum model to simulate reactive flow and wormhole formation in carbonate rocks under 3-D radial flow conditions. More specifically, we present a new structure-property relationship based on the fractal geometry theory, to describe the evolution of local permeability, pore radius, and specific area with porosity variation. In the numerical calculation, to improve the convergence rate, the heterogeneous medium in question is extended by adding a thin layer of homogeneous porous medium to its inlet. We compare the simulation results with the available experimental observations and find that they are qualitatively consistent with each other. Additionally, sensitivity analysis of the dissolution process with respect to acid injection rate and rock heterogeneity, including heterogeneity magnitude and correlation length, is presented.

Matrix acidization is an important technique to enhance oil production at the tertiary recovery stage, and its numerical simulation is never concluded. From one of the earliest models, i.e. the two-scale model (Darcy framework), the Darcy-Brinkman-Forchheimer (DBF) framework is developed by adding Brinkman term and Forchheimer term to the momentum conservation equation. However, in the momentum conservation equation of the DBF framework, porosity is put outside of the time derivation term, which cannot describe the change of porosity well. Thus, this work changes the expression so that the modified momentum conservation equation can satisfy Newton's second law. The modified framework is called improved DBF framework. Furthermore, based on the improved DBF framework, the thermal DBF framework is given by introducing the energy balance equation to the improved DBF framework. Both of the frameworks are verified by the former works through numerical experiments and chemical experiments in labs. Parallelization to the codes of the complicated frameworks is also realized, and good scalability can be achieved.

The hydrocarbon fossil fuels are considered as the preferable fuels to provide sufficient energies for industrial purposes. Also, extracting oil from the exploration wells might be a concerning issue in the coming decades, and petroleum engineers push themselves into limits ind novel solutions to enhance the oil recovery factor. Wellbore stimulation procedures exert a profound impact on the current production rate enhancement; respect of the way, reservoir productivity index witnesses a steep rise during the production operation and subsequently would virtually eliminate unnecessary expenditures of other methodologies. Appropriate investigation of acidizing procedures and its significant role in the wellbore production enhancement are utterly dependent on the quality and types of additives, types of acid, acidizing operation and types of formation. The objective of this study is to investigate the effect of injected acid in the carbonated reservoir and subsequently its comparison with the acidizing operations model. Therefore, available well-testing experiments are administered to determine the critical reservoir parameters such as skin factor, reservoir pressure, and permeability. Since then by modeling the wellbore condition in the acidizing operation simulator software, the impact of acidizing on the reservoir is simulated. Consequently, the provided information from software is compared with the real data from well-testing operations. As a result, productivity index is increased dramatically owing to successful acidizing procedures.
