Sapindus mukorossi seeds are commonly drilled and processed into strings and other craft products. To improve the machining qualities of micro-drilling of S. mukorossi seeds, the effects of these drilling parameters on the drilling force and pore morphology were found. The mechanism behind these changes was further analyzed. The drilling parameters (feed rate, drilling speed, and drill diameter) and machining process for the micro-drilling of S. mukorossi seeds were optimized. Results indicated that each drilling parameter influenced the drilling force and hole-machining quality by affecting the amount of cutting, the working conditions of the drill bit, chip formation, and the generation of drilling heat. Moreover, the feed rate and drill diameter are main influence factors that influence the drilling force, and the drilling speed plays a leading role that influences the hole-machining quality. Interestingly, for the drilling of S. mukorossi seeds, a feed rate of 0.03 mm/r, a drilling speed of 6 m/min, and a drill-bit diameter of 0.9- or 1.5 mm resulted in a hole with high accuracy, good pore morphology, and minimal wear on the drill bit. This study facilitates the selection of suitable drilling parameters and processing technology for the micro-drilling of S. mukorossi seeds to improve the processing accuracies and qualities, and provides a theoretical basis for the improvement of related drilling processing equipment.

With outstanding mechanical advantages such as high strength, light weight, high rigidity, low thermal expansion, good resistance corrosion, and high vibration resistance, carbon fiber-reinforced polymer (CFRP) is becoming increasingly popular in the automotive, aerospace, and medical spheres. For the CFRP machining, the biggest drawback is the effect of moisture on the mechanical properties caused by the cooling liquid and tool geometry. The appreciable body of study on the influence of wetness on the mechanical quality of carbon fiber-reinforced plastic has shown that there is no suitable use for lubrication fluids in the composite industry. However, there is a significant impact on the CFRP machining capabilities caused by the geometry of the cutting tool and cryogenic liquid cooling. This paper investigated the optimal choice of the parametric combinations in the CFRP drilling process. The optimization method was proposed using the Fuzzy interference system based on grey relation analysis. The experiment data was designed according to the Taguchi method. The twist angle of the drill, the coolant gas, and the feed rate were considered as the parameter inputs while observing several multi-responses such as thrust force and temperature generated during drilling process. The optimal result, as well as the case with highest grey fuzzy reasoning grade (GFRG), indicated that the low feed rate combined with the high twist angle drill in the hybrid cryogenic CO 2 -N 2 gas condition tended to minimize the value of the response output. The verification experiment results showed a good correlation with the optimal analytical result. The analysis of variance results also showed that the reliability of the data was satisfactory.

A Hybrid Cultural Harmony Search Algorithm for Constrained Optimization Problem of Diesel Blending

This paper studies the constrained optimization problem for nonlinear diesel blending. A new hybrid algorithm called cultural harmony search algorithm is presented to solve the proposed optimization problem, which uses cultural knowledge in the belief space of the cultural algorithm to guide the evolving and searching process of the harmony search algorithm. Then, an improved harmony improvisation in the population space of cultural algorithm is developed for new harmony generation to enrich the population diversity. Moreover, in order to accelerate convergence, the domain of decision variables is scaled down by a simplex method at the beginning of the algorithm, and a simplex improved cultural harmony search algorithm is provided. Finally, benchmark functions and the results of application in nonlinear diesel blending of a realworld refinery show the feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed algorithms. The contrasted experiments show that our proposed hybrid algorithm is better than other hybrid algorithms, especially in diesel blending optimization problem.INDEX TERMS Nonlinear diesel blending, variable domain reduction, simplex improved cultural harmony search algorithm, constrained optimization.
