A foremost debated area in the IT world is Mobile Cloud Computing (MCC) which merges cloud computing and mobile computing; MCC is a prospective technology of mobile services that have been inaugurated together with the fast development in mobile applications and cloud computing technology. MCC is in the early phase of development, so it is essential to have in-depth knowledge of the technology to identify future research. Cloud computing has seen exceptional advancement in the past couple of years regarding its turn of application and development. Thus, development and research in cloud computing are scaling in a positive direction because of the increasing demand for cloud computing. On the other hand, no one is concerned about its effect on mental health. People are more concerned about the privacy, access, and security of their data over the cloud. Users are not aware of the data stored in cloud technology. Therefore, end users are always worried about the security and privacy of personal data. When cloud base services are used, users have mental stress because of the unknown place of the data storage. Consistent use of cloud-based services creates a sense of anxiety among users that are more particular about data privacy. The present article gives a transitory explanation of cloud computing and mobile computing. Applications such as M-healthcare, M-commerce, and M-gaming have been discussed to debate potential applications for mobile cloud computing.

PurposeThe WeChat mini-program is a new channel for the delivery of online and mobile services, including electronic government services. Given the distinguishing characteristics and new business model of WeChat mini-programs, additional studies of mini-program-based government services are warranted. The purpose of this paper is to identify the factors that determine user adoption and usage of government WeChat mini-programs (GWMPs).Design/methodology/approachAn empirical study was conducted through an online survey of Chinese GWMPs users. The proposed model was tested by analyzing the collected data using the covariance-based structural equation modeling approach.FindingsThe findings show that trust in government, trust in WeChat, trust in GWMPs and perceived convenience have significant effects on the usage of GWMPs.Originality/valueThis study contributes to the understanding of the GWMPs and mini-program-based government phenomenon. Theoretical implications for future e-government research as well as practical suggestions for GWMPs operators are also discussed.

Caring for a rapid and ever-increasing older population, providing social support and monitoring emotional wellness, is the most immediate and most urgent challenge prompted by the global aging of baby boomers. Elderly assisted systems do not only promote independent lifestyles, enhancing their quality of life, but also reduce stress and worry of families and friends. While being physically active is beneficial and much encouraged, it does increase the risk of falls. We developed an affordable fall detection and response tracking application on the cloud platform; mobile cloud computing is a major evolution with rising impact in information technology and enterprises. Our system, named REDLE, features push notifications for fall alerts and real-time maps for tracking and providing locations and phone numbers of nearby hospitals. Implemented on Android, it captures signals from an embedded tri-axial accelerometer and a global positioning system sensor. Coupled with an efficient threshold-based fall detection algorithm for instantaneous responses, REDLE achieved a near perfect fall detection rate and accurate tracking. Users enjoyed the smoothness of our interactive interface, and complimented on its ease of use and familiarity.
