Mitigating human-induced emissions in Argentina: role of renewables, income, globalization, and financial development

Abstract: Achieving environmental sustainability has become a global initiative whilst addressing climate change and its effects. However, the role of energy production and consumption in economic development remains critical amidst environmental pollution. Thus, the need for innovation and clean energy alternatives is critical while pursuing sustainable development. This country-specific study focuses on Argentina, where economic growth trajectory is embedded with high CO2 emissions. This study assesses the long-term a… Show more

“…The rapid increase of global warming is accelerating the disappearance of snow covers and causing a rise in sea levels, which is an alarming worldwide environment (Adebayo et al, 2021;Baloch et al, 2021). The IBRD and IDA regions also contribute via precipitation patterns, the quick melting of the Andean tropical glaciers, and the unpredictable intensive weather-changing events in these areas.…”

“…In order to observe the change in the turning point of the U-shaped relationship, KOF index is used as the moderator. It shifts the turning point before the maturity of the U-shaped curve at the middle quantile group and after the maturity of the U-shaped curve at upped quantile group (for details, see; Abbasi et al 2022 ; Green et al 2021 ; Adebayo et al 2021 ; Baydoun & Aga, 2021 ). This indicates that we reject the null hypothesis that moderation KOF index does not change the turning point of the U-shaped curve based on FD and CO 2 emissions in SAARC countries.…”

“…They disclose a positive feedback relationship between globalization and carbon emissions at all quantiles. Similarly, Adebayo et al 5 evaluate the causal relationship between environmental quality and globalization in Argentina. They also discovered a long-term equilibrium relationship between the indicators.…”

“…1,2 Globalization and modern information technology have recently connected numerous countries, particularly culturally, socially, economically, and politically. 3,5 Globalization allows advanced technology to be transferred from advanced countries to less technologically advanced countries via foreign direct investment. 6 Therefore, globalization plays a critical role in identifying economic development, and it improves human economic activities as a result of the country's technological breakthroughs and investment activities.…”
