MiR-106b-5p regulates the migration and invasion of colorectal cancer cells by targeting FAT4

Abstract: MicroRNA-106b-5p (miR-106b-5p) is involved in the development of many cancers including in colorectal cancer (CRC), and FAT4 is correlated with regulation of growth and apoptosis of cancer cells. This study aimed to investigate the relation between FAT4 and miR-106b-5p and the underlying mechanism of the two on the development of CRC. Quantitative real-time PCR (qRT-PCR) assay and Western blot (WB) analysis were performed to detect the expressions of mRNAs, miRNA and proteins. The viability of CRC cells was de… Show more

“…According to the literature proposed by Longchang Huang et al, miR-4319 prevents CRC progression by controlling ABTB1 (18). Inversely, Min Pan et al have pointed out that miR-106b-5p accelerates CRC cell migration and invasion via binding to FAT4 (19). A former study has indicated that miR-548am-5p is differentially expressed in the pathogenesis of early-stage COAD, but the definite expression pattern is unclear.…”

“…Despite their physiological and morphological homogeneity, tumors display a wide range of morphological and phenotypic differences, including the expression of receptors on the surface of cells and their angiogenic capabilities ( 128 ). Angiogenesis is identified as an important hallmark of malignant tumors because quantities of blood vessels are needed to feed cancer cells ( 129 ).…”

“…Cai et al (2011) reported that miRNA-106b could target RB expression in laryngeal carcinoma [ 147 ] and ATG16L1 expression in Crohn’s Disease samples [ 148 , 149 ]. Additionally, all three micro-RNAs from the miRNA-106b-25 cluster were seen to target PTEN expression [ 150 , 151 ] and increased miRNA-106b expression recorded in CRC tissues which could target DLC-1 (while enhancing EMT, [ 152 ]) and FAT4 in CRC tissues or cell lines [ 153 ], ( Table 7 ).…”
