<p>The dependability of power electronics systems, such as three-phase inverters, is critical in a variety of applications. Different types of failures that occur in an inverter circuit might affect system operation and raise the entire cost of the manufacturing process. As a result, detecting and identifying inverter problems for such devices is critical in industry. This study presents the short-time Fourier transform (STFT) for fault classification and identification in three-phase type, voltage source inverter (VSI) switches. TFR represents the signal analysis of STFT, which includes total harmonic distortion, instantaneous RMS current, RMS fundamental current, total non harmonic distortion, total waveform distortion and average current. The features of the faults are used with a rule-based classifier based on the signal parameters to categorise and detect the switch faults. The suggested method's performance is evaluated using 60 signals containing short and open circuit faults with varying characteristics for each switch in VSI. The classification results demonstrate the proposed technique is good to be implemented for VSI switches faults classification, with an accuracy classification rate of 98.3 percent.</p>

Induction motors (IM) are used widely in high energy applications where high torque is required such as ships/ aircrafts manufacturing industry. Those motor drivers are populated in many advantages especially their wide control strategies. However, new technology is invented for enhancing efficiency and smoothing the torque curve by increasing number of phases in the motor drive. Speed control can be achieved by changing the pole numbers between any two different phases using pole-phase modulation (PPM). The problem is raised when a large number of phases are used to enhance the voltage profile. This problem is manifested in the complexity of control and complexity of hardware (more devices need to be involved) which increases the cost and degrades the performance. This paper argues using a multilevel inverter to produce an enhanced voltage profile and motor speed control without needing to increase the number of devices. The performance of the proposed model is compared with conventional models in terms of efficiency, power factor, speed, torque ripple, and ripple frequency. Results obtained using multilevel inverter based induction motors are found optimum.

The mechanism on how lightning detection system (LDS) operated never been exposed by manufacturer since it was confidential. This scenario motivated the authors to explore the issue above by using MATLAB to develop autoanalysis software based on the feature extraction. This extraction is intended for recognizing the parameters in the first return stroke, and compare the measurement between the autoanalysis software and the manual analysis. This paper is a modification based on a previous work regarding autoanalysis of zero-crossing time and initial peak of return stroke using features extraction programming technique. Further, the parameter on rising time of initial peak is added in this autoanalysis programming technique. Finally, the manual analysis using WaveStudio (LeCroy product) of those two lightning parameters is compared with autoanalysis software. This study found that the autoanalysis produce similar result with the manual analysis, hence proved the reliability of this software.
