“…TEP is used more frequently since the operation is performed without entering the intraperitoneal cavity , resulting in less postoperative pain and earlier recovery (2). Based on our experience with inguinal hernia repair, it is known that TEP approach provides a very easy access to the inner ring of the inguinal canal and all the other structures in the Retzius space.…”

“…In medicine, CARVALHO et al (2012) have used an optic of 10mm in three different techniques for inguinal hernia repair through MINI. Further, LEGGETT et al (2001) performed cholecystectomy using the MINI technique, with a 5mm optic in the umbilical portal, and reported that enlargement of the incision for gallbladder removal was necessary in less than 20% of cases.…”

“…The laparoscope used and its proper positioning provided adequate visualization of anatomical structures, enabling execution of the proposed surgical technique. Although the use of a smaller scope results in reduced parietal injury due to the use of smaller trocars, the use of a 2 or 3mm optic would considerably increase the cost of the procedure because the instruments are moderately durable and expensive; and these features not provide significant benefits to the technique (CARVALHO et al, 2009;CARVALHO et al, 2012).…”

“…On the other hand, TAPP is superior in discovering subclinical contralateral hernias and better control on dissection field and hernia sac [1,2]. Combination of both TEP and TAPP and modifications in either technique has been tried but did not gain popularity due to complexity of techniques with no advantages [4,5].…”
