“…Vanadian clinozoisite to mukhinite [Ca 2 Al 2 V 3+ (Si 2 O 7 )(SiO 4 ) O(OH)], in association with goldmanite, has been described in marbles from the Tashegilskoye deposit, Siberia, Russia (Shepel and Karpenko 1969). Vanadian epidote to allanite occurs in association with goldmanite, vanadoan muscovite, vanadoan titanite, and tomichite in the main ore zone of the Hemlo gold deposit, Ontario, Canada Fleet 1991, 1992).…”

“…V-micas are reported in sedimentary and metamorphic rocks and hydrothermal veins but have never been described in sediments shallowly buried (< 1 km) and younger than the Jurassic Morrison Formation. The data of Johan and Povondra (1987), Forbes (1989), and Hofman (1990) range from V-illite to roscoelite while those of Pan and Fleet (1992) and Schade et aL (1986) are V-muscovite to roscoelite. V-muscovites are detected in metamorphic rocks, illite in diagenetic/hydrothermal environment, and roscoelite in both geological situations.…”

“…Clay minerals containing a substantial amount of vanadium have been described in various geologic environments: sedimentary (Foster, 1959;Hathaway, 1959;Guven and Hower, 1979;Whitney and Northrop, 1986;Parnell, 1988;Forbes, 1989;Hofman, 1990), metamorphic (Snetsinger, 1966;McCormick, 1978;Schade et al, 1986;Oh and Trichet, 1990;Pan and Fleet, 1992), and hydrothermal (Yoshimura and Momoi, 1964;Hofman, 1990;Johan and Povondra, 1987). In sandstones from the Colorado Plateau, vanadium clays are produced by the mineralization processes that form uranium deposits .…”

“…The most notable features of the LA-ICP-MS analysis are that this vesuvianite contains~2% As, 1250 ppm by weight B, or 0.40% by weight B 2 O 3 , and Pan & Fleet (1992), Groat & Evans (2012), and Groat et al (2013) in amounts up to 1.71% As 2 O 5. Beryllium has been reported previously in amounts greater than 1% BeO in vesuvianite from Franklin, New Jersey (Palache 1935, Palache & Bauer 1930, Hurlbut 1955; Turnback Lake, Canada (Meen 1939); and Iron Mountains, New Mexico (Glass et al 1944), but its location in the structure has not been determined.…”
