Microtomography on the ANATOMIX beamline at Synchrotron SOLEIL

Abstract: The ANATOMIX beamline at Synchrotron SOLEIL, operational since 2018, is dedicated to hard X-ray full-field tomography techniques. Operating in a range of photon energies from approximately 5 to 50 keV, it offers both parallel-beam projection microtomography, in absorption and phase contrast, and nanotomography using a zone-plate transmission X-ray microscope. With these methods, the beamline covers a range of spatial resolution from 20 nm to 20 µm, expressed in terms of useful pixel size. The variable beam siz… Show more

“…Following overnight fixation, the specimens were placed in 2 mL screw-top tubes filled with PBS containing 100 U/mL penicillin and 1 μg/mL streptomycin (both Gibco). The specimens were scanned using Synchrotron radiation microcomputed tomography (SR-μCT) at the Anatomix beamline at the Synchrotron SOLEIL; the beamline and its instrumentation are described elsewhere. , In brief, the voxel size was 3.07 μm 3 , and the central energy of the filtered white X-ray beam was around 40 keV. Each scan involved a slight offset of the rotation axis in relation to the detector field of view, aiming to enlarge the diameter of the reconstructed volume.…”

“…Formaldehyde-fixed, ethanol-dehydrated samples were imaged with X-ray phase-contrast tomography (XPCT) at the ANATOMIX beamline [28] with a pink beam of mean energy 22 keV and a detector pixel size of 6.5 µm. The detector system consisted of a lutetium aluminum garnet (LuAG, Lu 3 Al 5 O 12 ) single-crystal scintillator (600 µm thick) coupled to a CMOS camera (Hamamatsu Orca Flash 4.0 V2, 2048 × 2048 pixels) via a 1:1 lens system consisting of two Hasselblad photo objectives ( f = 100 mm) in tandem geometry.…”

“…The X‐ray nano tomographic analysis of the calendered electrode under different compression pressures was performed at the beamline Anatomix of Synchrotron SOLEIL, France [45] where transmission X‐ray microscopy (TXM) instrument was used in absorption mode [46] . The scans were conducted with a monochromatic X‐ray beam of photon energy 8.327 keV using a TXM configuration.…”
