Microstructure analysis and properties of spherical silicon solar cells with anti‐reflection thin films

Abstract: Structure and properties of spherical silicon solar cells with anti‐reflection thin films were investigated and discussed. Conversion efficiencies of spherical Si solar cells coated with F‐doped SnO2 anti‐reflection films were improved by annealing. Optical absorption and fluorescence of the solar cells increased after annealing. Lattice constants of F‐doped SnO2 anti‐reflection layers, which were investigated by X‐ray diffraction, decreased after annealing. Mechanisms of atomic diffusion in SnO2 and reactions… Show more

“…The performance of spherical Si solar cells with the SnO x :F y films that were as-prepared and treated at 650°C for 4 h were described in our previous reports. 12), 21) The microstructure of the SnO x :F y films was investigated using XRD (Bruker, Billerica, MA, USA, D2 PHASER) and SEM (JEOL, Tokyo, Japan, JSM-6010PLUS/LA). The compositions of the SnO x :F y films were analyzed by SEM/EDS.…”

“…Solar cells provide electricity and produce no carbon dioxide and hazardous waste gases causing global warming. Spherical Si solar cells can reduce the consumption of Si compared with the conventional crystal Si solar cells [1][2][3][4][5][6][7][8]. Flexible, light solar cells were also manufactured using silicon spheres with a diameter of ~1 mm with a pn junction at the sphere surface [9][10][11].…”
