Microscopic entropy of rotating electrically charged AdS4 black holes from field theory localization

Abstract: We employ supersymmetric localization to determine the exact partition function of 3d N " 2 gauge theories on a background given by a round S 2 fibered over a circle and certain complexified background fields. The Coulomb branch localization locus includes monopole configurations, and the partition function reduces to a matrix model. We consider the partition function of the ABJM theory on this background as an explicit case. We verify that the large-N limit of the ABJM theory partition function produces, in t… Show more

“…One advantage of this setup is that it provides analytical results for the leading and even for the logarithmic in N term. Recent approaches to the microscopic counting in rotating electrically charged asymptotically AdS 4 black holes have reduced the field-theoretic object to a matrix model where the leading order can be easily found but the sub-leading in N corrections seem like a daunting task [14,15]. We show that the leading order in the superconformal index perfectly matches the entropy of rotating electrically charged black holes in the universal sector of N = 2 gauge supergravity.…”

“…For rotating electrically charged asymptotically AdS 4 black holes an impressive result was reported based on field-theoretic computations of the superconformal index [14]; more recently an explanation based on localization was provided in [15]. In this manuscript our goal is to approach a class of rotating, electrically charged asymptotically AdS 4 black holes via their dual field theory.…”

“…These results have been generalized and extended to other dimensions. In particular, the entropy of Kerr-Newman black holes in AdS 4 has been reproduced in the Cardy limit in , Nian and Pando Zayas (2020) and , one of the method involving factorization of the partition function. The case of AdS 6 and AdS 7 have been analysed in , Kantor et al (2020) and Nahmgoong (2019).…”

“…However, it is not obvious to us that the details of these papers are consistent with one another. 1 Further research prompted by [19,24,25] has generalized details of the results in various directions [30][31][32][33][34][35][36][37] but no consensus has emerged yet.…”
