Microdeformation Processes in Soft Magnetic Compounds

Abstract: Porosity can be defined in different ways. The most frequently used definition is the total porosity, which is the total volume fraction of empty space in the specimen. The presence of pores strongly affects the fracture mode. Besides the evaluation of geometry and quality of connections, fractographic analysis enables a quantification of the important microstructural characteristics of the plane porosity. This quantity allows to quantify the existing relations between microstructure and properties. The fracto… Show more

“…the evaluation procedure described in more detail is at work [5,6]. From our previous studies [15][16][17], it´s known that nanopores do not affect the mechanism of fracture formation. Therefore, only pores of a size greater than 1 μm were investigated.…”

“…on the other side, the poor fatigue and wear resistance in additively manufactured titanium alloys is caused by high porosity levels. there have been multiple types of porosity observed in these materials [12][13][14][15][16][17][18].…”

“…All these have characteristic fracture resistance properties resulting in combinations of dimple rupture, cleavage, and intergranular and interparticle failure micromechanisms. Based on the criteria of previous studies (see [28,29]), the fracture surfaces of AM 316L samples were evaluated. Ten SEM images at 3000× magnification of the fracture surface of each sample were analyzed via the image analysis software (Image J) to calculate the fraction of dimples showing coalescence.…”

“…Low magnetic losses reduce heat generation and energy consumption. Mechanical properties affect shearability, resistance to fatigue fracture resulting from sudden changes in mechanical stress and resistance to material deformation at high rotor or stator speeds [3][4][5]. The chemical composition of these steels is similarespecially as far as the basic alloying elements are concerned, and the manufacturing processes have not changed significantly for years.…”
