Microbiota in cancer: molecular mechanisms and therapeutic interventions

Zhou Chen,
Defeng Guan,
Zhengfeng Wang
et al.

Abstract: The diverse bacterial populations within the symbiotic microbiota play a pivotal role in both health and disease. Microbiota modulates critical aspects of tumor biology including cell proliferation, invasion, and metastasis. This regulation occurs through mechanisms like enhancing genomic damage, hindering gene repair, activating aberrant cell signaling pathways, influencing tumor cell metabolism, promoting revascularization, and remodeling the tumor immune microenvironment. These microbiota‐mediated effects s… Show more

“…It is well-known that the inflammatory phase is inevitable during organ procurement, preservation, and implantation. Several clinical situations such as marginal donor livers, prolonged ischemia time, and massive blood loss, may worsen the inflammatory phase 59 . Moreover, the comprehensive remodeling of liver immunity via donor-recipient interplay causes inflammation 60 .…”

“…The detection and manipulation of biomolecules on a versatile platform hold significant value not only in devices like diagnostic tools but also in the fundamental research of biological and medical systems ( Bhardwaj et al, 2019 ; Clifford et al, 2021 ; Hwang et al, 2021 ; Chen Z. et al, 2023 ). In recent years, there has been a proliferation of electrochemical biomarker sensors employing various biomarkers, such as biomaterials ( Mathew et al, 2021 ), two-dimensional materials ( Bakirhan et al, 2018 ), and fluorescent materials ( Wang et al, 2017 ).…”
