Microbial Production of 7-Aminocepahlosporanic Acid and New Generation Cephalosporins (Cephalothin) by Different Processing Strategies

Abstract: The development of beta-lactam antibiotics has been a continuous battle of the design of new compounds to withstand inactivation by the ever-increasing diversity of beta-lactamases. Semisynthetic cephalosporins like cephalothin were synthesized from 7-amino-cephalosporanic acid (7-ACA), and thiophene-2-acetic acid using cephalosporin-C acylase enzyme was studied. The production of cephalosporin-C acylase by Pseudomonas diminuta was used and the growth kinetics studied. The optimum condition of enzyme activity … Show more

“…Biosynthesis of 7-Amino cephalosporanic acid (7-ACA) is an important process which involves the use of free and immobilized microbial cells. This can be single step or multistep microbial enzymatic process (Gaurav et al, 2007). There are lots of advantages of single step over the multi-step process (Nigam et al, 2005).…”

“…[7][8][9] Nowadays, there are many methods for the determination of CET, including high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC), infrared Raman spectroscopy (IR-Raman), colorimetry, spectrophotometry, and so forth. [10][11][12][13][14] However, the above methods have some shortcomings, such as expensive equipment, time-consuming, complex operations, and so on, which are not conducive to real-time monitoring. Therefore, it is decisively significant to develop an exact, portable, and calculable CET detection method.…”
