Micro-Doppler Parameters Extraction of Precession Cone-Shaped Targets Based on Rotating Antenna

Abstract: Micro-Doppler is regarded as a unique signature of a target with micro-motions. The sophisticated recognition of the cone-shaped targets can be realized through the micro-Doppler effect. However, it is difficult to extract the micro-motion features perpendicular to the radar line of sight (LOS) effectively. In this paper, a micro-Doppler parameters extraction method of the cone-shaped targets is put forward based on the rotating antenna. First, a new radar configuration is proposed, in which an antenna rotates… Show more

“…When there is a positive Doppler frequency shift, the number of impulses will be higher in the positive half of the modulation period. When moving away from the depolarization panel, the Doppler shift will cause negative frequency, so the number of impulses in the first half of the modulation period will be lower than the number of impulses in the negative half period of the modulation signal [ 26 , 27 , 28 ].…”

“…The difference in curve smoothness can be used to separate the micro-Doppler curves of the cone scattering points. The empirical mode decomposition method can be used to detect and estimate the precession frequency [ 14 ]. For cones with occlusion effects, Zhou et al [ 15 ] proposed a new algorithm of coherent single-range Doppler interferometry (CSRDI)-modified general parameterized time–frequency (GPTF) to extract micro-Doppler curves and estimate parameters.…”

“…The research of frequency characteristics based on EM scattering helps to provide theoretical support for radar detection and target identification [14,15], as well as SAR image processing [16,17]. Since the micro-Doppler features generated using different micro-motions are different, they also can be utilized to classify and recognize targets [18][19][20][21]. Chen has conducted a lot of excellent work on the micro-Doppler.…”

“…However, all the works [20][21][22][23][24] above were based on the point scattering model of a moving target. This method just considers the scattering echo of a few strong scattering points on the target, ignoring the influence of structural features on the scattering echo.…”
