Micro Cold Spray printed top metallization layer for solar cells

Abstract: Our group has recently developed a non-contact direct-write print tool suitable for the top metallization layer on solar cells. This tool, termed Micro Cold Spray (MCS) allows for the direct deposition of metal powders onto a substrate forming a near-bulk property feature without post-processing. The development of this tool was facilitated by our experience with aerosol micro focusing in systems such as Aerosol Jet and Collimated Aerosol Beam Direct-Write (CAB-DW). In this paper we will present our results of… Show more

“…In contrast to coatings in which the modifying phase was crystalline ceramics (e.g. Al 2 O 3 and SiC), which also bounding during the application process, but due to the larger particle size caused tamping and stronger strengthening of the metallic matrix [13,14].

“…The use of the low-pressure cold spray (LPCS) method for spraying functional coatings is widely described in the literature [11][12][13][14][15]. This method allows the chemical composition of coatings to be controlled and high-class coatings to be obtained [16].…”

“…Ударная консолидация высокоскоростных твердых частиц позволяет получать холодное напыление (температура порошка и подложки гораздо ниже температуры спекания порошка) с высокой прочностью, низкой пористостью и минимальным или сжимающим остаточным напряжением. Использование газодинамической фокусировки позволяет поднять пространственное разрешение для металлов выше получаемого методами SLM и EBM [19][20][21].…”
