Micellar enhanced spectrofluorimetric approach for nanogram detection of certain α1‐blocker drugs: Application in pharmaceutical preparations and human plasma

Abstract: Alpha1-adrenergic-blocking drugs, namely; alfuzosin hydrochloride (ALF), doxazosin mesylate (DOX) and terazosin hydrochloride (TER) are effective as antihypertensive agents as well as in management of benign prostatic hypertrophy. In this study, a simple, very fast, highly sensitive and cheap technique was optimized for assay of these drugs in pure states and pharmaceutical tablets. The proposed method is dependent on enhancement of the native fluorescence of investigated drugs using the polyoxyethylene 50 ste… Show more

“…Each 0.5 ml of plasma was transferred to a centrifugation tube and spiked with various aliquots of the standard SPRC solution. Here, 1 ml acetonitrile was utilized as a protein precipitation agent, [17][18][19][20] the content was completed to 10 ml with distilled water and then centrifuged at 18 659 g for 10 min. The general analytical procedure was performed exactly as described in Section 2.4.…”

“…Acetonitrile was added (2 mL) as a protein precipitating agent. [10][11][12] The resultant supernatant solution was completed to 10 mL with distilled water and then centrifugation at 4000 rpm for 20 min. Furthermore, 2 mL of the supernatant was used to provide the final concentration range (40-500 ng mL −1 ) in the general procedure.…”

“…The molar absorptivity and/or uorescence quantum yield of a given uorophore solution frequently increases when a surfactant is added at a concentration greater than its critical micellar concentration. [14][15][16] This technique has been used for the direct estimation of the anticancer drug AVA in biological uids. This method has been applied to uniformity tests, pharmacokinetic studies, and greenness assessments.…”
