Methylatedclaudin-11associated with metastasis and poor survival of colorectal cancer

Abstract: As one of crucial epigenetic modification, DNA methylation plays an important role during the carcinogenesis of colorectal cancer (CRC). In the current study, we used a human genome methylation array to detect the aberrant methylation genes in CRC. We further identified the hypermethylation of claudin-11 (CLDN11) and proved inverse correlation between CLDN11 methylation and its expression in CRC. In vitro experiments showed debased migration ability of colonic cancer cells in accompany with the converted methy… Show more

“…In addition, the methylation profile of gene promoters was different for each type of tumor [46], suggesting that the detection of aberrant gene promoter methylation could serve as a potential molecular biomarker for tumors. The evaluation of methylation profiles as a tool for the diagnosis or prognosis of tumors has been described for many cancers, such as colorectal cancer [52], nasopharyngeal carcinoma [53], laryngeal squamous cell carcinoma [54], and HNSCC [55].…”

“…Methylation levels of the HOXA9 promoter (chr7:27206577‐27206704) in 145 HNSCC and paired adjacent tissue samples were determined using a qMSP assay as described previously . ACTB was chosen as the internal control and human methylated DNA (Zymo Research, Orange, CA, USA) served as the positive control.…”

“…Methylation levels of the HOXA9 promoter (chr7:27206577-27206704) in 145 HNSCC and paired adjacent tissue samples were determined using a qMSP assay as described previously. 31 ACTB was chosen as the internal control 28 and human methylated DNA ( were used to evaluate HOXA9 methylation in this dataset. Receiver operating characteristic (ROC) analysis was used to assess the diagnostic value of HOXA9 methylation for HNSCC.…”
