Methotrexate/narrowband UVB phototherapy combination vs. narrowband UVB phototherapy in the treatment of chronic plaque‐type psoriasis – a randomized single‐blinded placebo‐controlled study

Abstract

Combination of methotrexate and NBUVB phototherapy provides more rapid clinical improvement compared with NBUVB monotherapy in the treatment for chronic plaque-type psoriasis.

Combination therapy of methotrexate plus NBUVB phototherapy is more effective than methotrexate monotherapy in the treatment of chronic plaque psoriasis

Our result were also in agreement with those of Mahajan et al (4) who have reported a significant statistical difference in the percentage of patients who achieved clearance (100% in the MTX/NBUVB group versus 77.7% in the placebo/NBUVB group), and in the time required to achieve such clearance (7.57 ± 3.09 weeks versus 11.42 ± 4.98 weeks) in favor of the MTX/NBUVB group. The TCD of MTX was 200 ± 81.0 mg.…”
