Methodology to Generate Navigation Models in Building

Abstract: Indoor route networks models are created for use in navigation. They may be built manually, but it is better to generate them automatically, based on the building floor plans. Research has been conducted in this field in many research centers. The authors undertook to develop their own methodology for generating navigation networks, using topological neighborhood relations and semantic data. The research project focuses on one floor in a building, which consists of rooms and an expanded corridor with an obstac… Show more

“…The resulting model can be used for navigation, and it generates routes with a minimal number of straight and acute angles. [39] observed that greater segmentation of irregular corridors increases zigzagging in the generated network model. The use of midpoints {PMid} eliminates zigzagging in the MPRSS model ( Figure. The adopted methodology was additionally verified in the space shown in Figure 11a which can represent indoor premises or developed space.…”

“…This approach can be referred to as the Middle-Point Relation Structure Segment (MPRSS). The methodology for generating indoor navigation models [39] was modified. The NRSS method of generating a topological network based on nodes which are centroid segments was described in [39].…”
