Metformin Effects on Follistatin and Oxyntomodulin Levels and Its Relationship With Polycystic Ovaries Syndrome and Associated Comorbidities: Secondary Analysis of Randomized Double-blind Clinical Study.

Abstract: Background: An abnormal secretion of incretins, specially Glucagon-like peptide 1 (GLP-1), glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide (GIP), and oxyntomodulin (OXM), have been described in subjects with Type 2 diabetes mellitus and PCOS. OXM has important actions in the metabolism including the ability to reduce food intake and improve insulin secretion reducing the liver fat accumulation.
