Metal–Organic Polyhedra Cages Immobilized on a Plasmonic Substrate for Sensitive Detection of Trace Explosives

Abstract: A novel strategy for highly sensitive detection and discrimination of explosives is developed based on the metal–organic polyhedra (MOP)‐decorated plasmonic substrate. It is found that the careful selection of the geometric and electronic characteristics of the assembly units (organic ligands and unsaturated metals sites) embedded within the MOP cage allows for the integration of multiple weak molecular interactions in a controllable fashion and thus the MOP cage can serve as an excellent receptor for selectiv… Show more

“…3b, the high-resolution S 2p XPS spectrum displays two broad peaks at 164.0 and 168.8 eV pertaining to S 2p 1/2 and S 2p 3/2 , respectively [33]. The S 2p peaks were attributed to the bound nickel-thiol species [34]. A high-resolution XPS Ni 2p spectrum shows the peaks at 856.7 eV (Ni 2p 3/2 ) and 873.8 eV (Ni 2p 1/2 ) ( Fig.…”

“…For the detection of explosives, Cu‐MOP (MOP = metal–organic polyhedral) with an amine functionalized ligand H 2 (2‐NH 2 ‐5‐i‐Pr‐3,3′‐3,3′‐(1,3‐phenylenebis(ethyne‐2,1‐diyl))dibenzoate) was used . Li and co‐workers studied the interaction of a host system with different analytes such as TNT, DNT, RDX, and HMX.…”

“…Significant efforts have been employed to the exploration for detecting explosives [ 1 , 2 , 3 , 4 , 5 ]. Positively, the adverse effects of explosives on national defense security, ecological environment and human health have aroused widespread concern, such as PA (2,4,6-Trinitrophenol), TNT (2,4,6-Trinitrotoluene) and DNT (2,4-Dinitrotoluene).…”
