The article deals with the concept of autonomous learning in the context of teaching students majoring in economics and a study of the readiness of higher education students for autonomous learning was conducted. It is determined that autonomy means the ability to be responsible for a productive learning and provides an opportunity to choose materials, resources, learning strategies, taking into account students’ individual needs and opportunities, while predicting personal control over the content, process and results of studying. A survey on the readiness of students for the autonomous learning in the process of studying selective disciplines showed the students’ low ability to plan their own learning activities and almost complete lack of ability to adapt to the changes of a learning context. At the same time, a high percentage of students who can form their own learning goals and evaluate the results of their own learning was identified. The survey also demonstrated the respondents' high willingness to identify their own weaknesses in their learning process and the average level of motivation for own studying. It is generally known that motivation is considered as an important factor in the development of autonomous learning. It is noted that internal and external motivation can affect the end result of learning. It is concluded that the formation of the competence of autonomous learning is one of the priority tasks of higher education, since it meets the needs of the society in specialists capable to autonomously acquire knowledge, skills and abilities, adapt to constantly changing professional conditions.

BackgroundTwo years after the outbreak of the pandemic, several studies look at the consequences for the well-being and mental health of young people. In particular, creativity and resilience are cited in the scientific literature as resources that promote this well-being in adolescents and young adults.PurposeThis mini-literature review was created with the aim of examining how many articles have explored the relationship between creativity and resilience in adolescents and young adults since the onset of the pandemic.MethodsParticular attention was paid to how many of the articles actually related to the consequences of the pandemic, in which country they were published, their target population, and the models, instruments and variables used to analyze them.ResultsOnly 4 articles emerged from the screening, of which only one was actually related to pandemic consequences. All articles were published in Asian countries with a target group of university students. Three of the articles used mediation models to examine the relationship between resilience as an independent variable and creativity as a dependent variable. All articles used self-assessment instruments for creativity and resilience, both at the individual and group level.SignificanceThis mini-review offers us the opportunity to reflect on the lack of studies that have addressed the issue of youth resources in the form of creativity and resilience since the beginning of the pandemic. The results show us a still underdeveloped interest in creativity in the scientific literature, in contrast to what the media reports on the promotion of creativity in daily life.

The Physics Classroom in an Online 3D Virtual World: A Thai High School Teacher Needs Analysis

The study set out to examine the actual and desired needs of Thai high school physics teachers in the 2021 academic year from a sample of 44 teachers in Thailand’s northeastern Surin Province. Also, assessment was undertaken concerning each teacher’s ‘order of needs’ from the 41 items presented for evaluation to the teachers. Moreover, there were three main categories in the study’s assessments. These were the teachers’ opinions on the use of 3-dimension virtual learning (3DVL) teaching media in physics for, 1) a mechanics laboratory, 2) an electromagnetism laboratory, 3) and a wave, sound, and light laboratory. The questionnaire was examined by five experts with a confidence value of 0.97. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics including the mean and standard deviation. Moreover, a modified version of the priority needs index (PNIModified) was used to assess the ‘order of needs’ of each teacher in teaching a 3DVL. The results of the study revealed that physics teachers believed that the overall readiness in teaching and learning management of the three groups of physics laboratories were at a moderate level. The teachers also felt that the need for computer-assisted teaching materials and 3DVL science and physics laboratories for high school students was at a high level in all three categories. Concerning each teacher’s ‘order of needs,’ it was determined that the top five teaching needs were for the spectral studies of hot gases (1), followed by teaching parallax (2), the need to teach light interference patterns (3), the polarization of light (4) and then light diffraction and diffraction grating (5).
