The last few years have seen the increasingly young age of menarche in teenagers. The average age of the national menarche from year to year is declining. The more children experience early menarche, the greater the risk of negative implications such as lack of personal hygiene, breast cancer, and early pregnancy. Menarche's age is influenced by nutritional, economic, pornographic, and genetic status. The purpose of this study was to determine the factors that affect menarche in adolescents aged 10-12 years. The research conducted is descriptive-analytic with a cross-sectional design. The population of MIN 3 Magetan students aged 10-12 years who have menstruated and have met the inclusion and exclusion criteria. The study sample was 87 respondents with a purposive sampling technique. Data collection using questionnaires. Statistical calculations are carried out by statistical and descriptive analysis with binary logistic regression tests. The average age of menarche is 11 years with the youngest age being 9 years and the oldest at 12 years, most female students experience early menarche (65.5%). There is an effect of nutritional status on menarche (p =0.048, Exp (B)= 4.3), there is an economic influence on menarche (p=0.000, Exp (B)= 11.3), there is an influence of pornographic exposure on menarche (p=0.001, Exp (B)= 12.1), and there is no genetic or age influence maternal menarche against menarche (0.388). Nutritional status, economic status, and exposure to pornographic media increase the incidence of early menarche. The highest risk factors for exposure to pornography resulted in 12.1 times the incidence of early menarche, economic status by 11.3 times, and nutritional status by 4.2 times. Strict supervision of mass media access and maintaining nutritional intake are necessary to prevent early menarche.

Body mass index (BMI) is useful for categorizing under- and over-nutrition. It is the weight in kilogram divided by the height in meters and squared. Socioeconomic status (SES) is an economic and sociological combined total measure of a person's work experience and of an individual's or family's economic access to resources and social position in relation to others.Menarche is defined as the first menstrual period in a female adolescent. The purpose of this study to find out the effect of BMI and socioeconomic state on menarche among school girls in Tikrit. Methodology : In this study 100 female, aging 11-13 years old were selected in Al-Marjan secondary school of Tikrit region. Height and weight were measured. The body mass index (BMI; kg/m2) was used as an index of relative weight. The socioeconomic status were assessed according to the educational and occupational levels of parents of the girls. The age at menarche were evaluated . This study was done from December 2021 to March 2022. Results : The mean and standard deviation (SD) of menarche age was 12.87 ± 1.17 years. About 60.3% of girls had normal BMI and 31%, 6.8%, and 2% of them were underweight, overweight, and obese, respectively. There was no significant relationship between higher BMI and menarche age. There was no significant relationship between socioeconomic status, physical activity, and birth season, attitude towards menarche, nutritional status, and number of brothers with age of menarche .While there was a significant association of number of sisters and the menarche age. Conclusions: The results showed a no significant relationship between menarche age and BMI. The age of menarche in this region was also different compared to other regions of the globe.

Background Menarche is a key indicator of puberty and is influenced by a variety of variables, including socioeconomic status and their residence. To provide health services and menstrual health education to schoolgirls, health policymakers must be aware of the menarche age. Here in we aimed to investigate the timing of menarche in secondary school girls and its associations with socioeconomic status and body mass index. Methods A cross-sectional study enrolled 130 girls carried out from January to march 2023 in secondary schools in Shabasha City, White Nile State, Sudan. Structured questionnaires were used to gather the personal information from the girls and parents, age at menarche, and factors influencing age at menarche, height, and weight. Results The mean age of girls was 16.5 ± 1 years while the mean age of menarche was found to be 13.6 ± 1.3 years, and the majority of the girls had menarche age of 14 years 44(33.8%) and 13 years 42(32.3%). Mothers (n = 86; 66.2%), sisters or friends (n = 84; 64.6%), and teachers (n = 81; 62.3%) were the main advisors. Also, examinations were the main stressor in 12(9.2%) girls. The age of menarche was found to be negatively correlated with BMI (r= -0.365; P. value = 0.027), and underweight girls had a later age of menarche (14.81.4 years; P. value = 0.000). Furthermore, girls with low socioeconomic status had menarche at a later age (14.61.3 years). Menarche occurred later in girls who lived with their father alone (14.31.6 years) and with their mother alone (140.5 years). The age of menarche had no effect on parental education, family size, or stressors (P value > 0.05). Conclusion The age of menarche among schoolgirls was found to be relatively similar to that reported in Sudan and other countries in the region. It was significantly related to the girls' BMI, socioeconomic status, and the types of residents.
