“…The results show that the MCDI pilot under conditions of 1.2 V and flow rate of 10 mL/min in contact with the synthetic sample of sodium chloride with an initial concentration of 1,200 μs/cm at the duration of 180 min decreased to less than 1.27 μs/cm (more than 99% efficiency). However, in contact with domestic wastewater containing TDS of 276.7 mg/L, EC 437 μs/cm (much less than the actual sample in the present study), turbidity 0.27 NTU, hardness 118.2 mg/L, nitrate 57 mg/L (Lee et al 2019). Also, a study conducted by Jiang et al (2019) to remove phosphate from domestic wastewater using a conventional MCDI system showed that only the maximum efficiency of 57% was reached under conditions with voltage of 1.2 V, flow rate of 24 mL/min, and pH ¼ 7.2.…”

“…Therefore, it is not possible to expect the EC and TDS to fall below the desired level. A study was conducted by Lee et al (2019) for desalination of domestic wastewater. The results show that the MCDI pilot under conditions of 1.2 V and flow rate of 10 mL/min in contact with the synthetic sample of sodium chloride with an initial concentration of 1,200 μs/cm at the duration of 180 min decreased to less than 1.27 μs/cm (more than 99% efficiency).…”

“…Cold atmospheric pressure plasma (CAPP) is relatively widely used in agriculture and food production for the treatment of plants and seeds and also as a more environmentally friendly way for water desalination or decontamination [1][2][3] and for remediation [4,5]. Recent studies about CAPP effects are focused not just on water purification but also on plasma application on plants as a possible ecological solution for increasing food production.…”

“…A membrane capacitive deionization (MCDI) stack with 10 pairs of 20 cm × 20 cm activated carbon electrodes was used to desalinate secondary effluent from a domestic WRRF for water reclamation (Lee et al, 2019). The authors showed that MCDI can effectively remove undesired ions such as calcium and nitrate, producing low-salinity water with a conductivity as low as 1.27 µm/cm.…”
