Medium- and high-spin band structure of the chiral candidate132La

Abstract: Medium-and high-spin states of 132 La have been studied based on the data obtained from 100 Mo( 36 S, p3n) and 116 Cd( 23 Na, α3n) fusion-evaporation reactions using the EUROBALL and Gammasphere detector arrays, respectively. Triple-γ coincidence relations, angular correlations, and linear polarizations of the observed γ transitions have been deduced. The level scheme of 132 La has been considerably extended, and unambiguous spin and parity values have been assigned to most of the excited states. The configur… Show more

“…The level pattern of the πh 11/2 ⊗ νh −1 11/2 band in 136 La is very similar to those in 130 La [16], 132 La [17], and 134 La [18]. Therefore, from the systematics, we reasonably propose the spin-parity of the band members as (9 + ) ( E x = 0.865 MeV) up to (13 + ) ( E x = 2.112 MeV).…”

“…One of the most striking features was the observation of the nearly degenerate doublet bands built on the πh 11/2 ⊗ νh 11/2 configuration, interpreted as the manifestation of chiral symmetry breaking [1]. This phenomenon has been rather intensively investigated in recent years both experimentally [2][3][4][5][6][7][8] and theoretically [9][10][11][12][13][14].…”

“…The axial coupling constant g A adopted in each study is given in the second column. In the last column half-lives are given in units of • 10 yr meV 30 2 , where the phase-space factor is taken from [68] except for the SM(GCN50.82) [31]. , which are inversely proportional to the NME squared, are given in the last column.…”

“…For nuclei of mass number A∼130, various characteristic phenomena in the nuclear structure are known. One is the appearance of the doublet bands in doubly-odd nuclei, which are almost energetically degenerate ΔI=1 bands with the same parity [1][2][3]. The doublet bands are theoretically analyzed in terms of the phenomenological particle-rotor model [4], the projected shell model [5,6], the quadrupole coupling model [7][8][9][10], and the pair-truncated shell model (PTSM) [11][12][13][14].…”
