Chronic diabetes among adults is a public health concern and clinicians are trying to implement new strategies to effectively manage the disease. Traditionally, healthcare professionals are used to monitor and track the lab reports of patients. After that, they used to provide respective medicines and lifestyle plans to manage the chronic disease. The lifestyle of the patients and access to safe and secure food products is also responsible for developing chronic diseases. Thus, the Internet of Things (IoT) has taken an utmost interest in managing diabetes. This research is going to analyze the accuracy of IoT in assisting chronic diabetes management and determining food safety. To accomplish the research objectives, the researchers performed a linear regression analysis to understand whether IoT devices and Artificial Intelligence (AI) assist in assessing food safety and diabetes management. The independent variables selected were lab test values, treatment records, epoch size of AI, and image resolution of the training dataset. Dependent variables were the accuracy of IoT. Here, the accuracy of IoT and AI has been determined. Moreover, the accuracy of clinicians in diabetes management has been observed. It has been found that clinicians have high variance in accuracy (max 99%) whereas machines have limited variance in accuracy (max. 98%). Secondary research identified that clinicians need to be involved along with IoT devices for better management of this chronic disease and help patients by providing the safest food options.

There is a keen interest in the exploration of new generation emitters and detectors due to advancements in innovation of new materials and device processing technologies which have opened up new frontiers in the Terahertz (THz) spectrum. Therefore, it is necessary to review the developments in THz technology for healthcare applications, their impact, implications and prospects for ongoing research and development. This paper provides a broad overview of the current status and prospects of application of THz imaging and sensing for the healthcare domain. We present current knowledge, identify existing challenges for wide scale clinical adoption of THz systems and prospective opinions to facilitate research and development towards optimized and miniaturized THz systems and biosensors that provide real operational convenience through emerging trends. Firstly, we provide an overview of the THz imaging and sensing techniques that exploit properties of THz generation and detection with emphasis on terahertz time domain spectroscopy (THz-TDS) and THz Metamaterials. The mechanisms of tissue image contrast and the application of THz imaging and sensing for biomedical applications in particular, the cancer detection application is reported. Secondly, an outlook toward the advancements in THz technology in the interface of healthcare 4.0 and its enabling technologies is explored for next generation smart and connected healthcare systems. Third, we identify the merits and existing challenges in THz cancer imaging and sensing and suggest prospective opinions to pave way to ongoing and future research. Further, we discuss the recent advances in THz imaging development and the contribution of near-field techniques based on plasmonic, and resonance based metasurfaces, waveguides etc. for breaking the diffraction limit towards development of THz systems that are convenient for point of care. We bring researchers a roadmap for future research scope.

Patient record keeping plays a vital role in diagnoses and cures. Due to a shortage of time, most doctors write prescriptions manually in Pakistan. At times, it becomes difficult for pharmacists to read prescriptions properly. As a result, they may dispense the wrong medicine. This might cause risky and deadly effects on the patient's health. This paper proposes an online handwritten medical prescription recognition system that lets doctors write prescriptions on a tablet using a stylus and automatically recognizes the medicine. We use signature verification techniques to recognize the doctor's handwriting to overcome the problem of misinterpretation of the medicine name by the pharmacist. The proposed system stores different features like the pen coordinates, time, and several pen-ups and pen-downs. Besides using features already proposed in the literature for signature verification, we propose some new features that greatly enhance recognition accuracy. We built a dataset of 24 medicine names from two users and compared results using newly proposed features. We have obtained 84%, 78%, 77.47% 77.31%, 74.17%, 60%, 38.5%, 68%, and 61.64% accuracies for 9 users using SVM classifier.
