Medial Thigh Lift and DE.C.LI.VE.

Abstract: Vertical dermocrurolipectomy is a technique that in Italy has been named "DECLIVE," (which in Latin means something that moves downward). The first medial thigh lift with the DECLIVE technique was done in 1993. Since then, based on its excellent results 50 patients have been operated on, following DECLIVE. “…As a side effect of this aesthetic procedure, the tissue excess of the thigh can be used easily for the coverage of defined and localized groin defects. A number of authors have described technical variations of Lockwood's original technique [152,153]. “…Particularly, flaps were preferred during reconstructive surgery of the thigh and perineal defects, total pelvic exenteration [3], benign or malign scrotal and vaginal tumour excision, radiotherapy related defects [18,19,21] in addition to burn contractures, avulsion, trauma contractures of leg [18], and sex conversion by vaginoplasty in transsexual [3]. The cutaneous and PBs of the femoral artery are valuable for the fasciocutaneous medial flap elevated from thigh region because of its rich and convenient supplying.…”

“…Seromas and lymphatic fistulas have a reported incidence of up to 33% and a high recurrence rate in some series. [127891011] It is important to distinguish between seromas associated with extended flap undermining, and lymphoceles resulting from damage to lymphatic vessels. Both complications typically present post-operatively within 3-4 weeks.…”
