Orang yang telah kehilangan laring (laryngectomee) atau mengalami kerusakan laring akan kehilangan fungsi bicara dan menyebabkan sulitnya berkomunikasi. Electrolarynx (EL) adalah perangkat genggam berdayakan baterai yang merupakan salah satu alternatif untuk membangkitkan suara dengan memberi getaran pada otot leher. EL adalah alternatif yang mudah digunakan dan sederhana, akan tetapi suara yang dihasilkan EL tidak natural (seperti robot), monoton, dan memiliki kualitas yang rendah sehingga dibutuhkan pengembangan lanjut untuk meningkatkan kualitas suara dan kenyamanan penggunaan. Penelitian sebelumnya telah menunjukkan adanya hubungan antara aktivitas otot leher dengan pembentukan suara. Oleh karenanya, sinyal elektromiografi (EMG) pada otot leher dianalisis terhadap intensinya untuk memulai/berhenti bicara dan hubungannya dengan nada suara yang dihasilkan. Pada penelitian ini, instrumentasi EMG minimum dirancang untuk memperoleh sinyal EMG pada otot leher. Instrumentasi EMG terdiri dari penguat instrumentasi, rangkaian filter, dan rangkaian adder. Sinyal EMG kemudian direkam dan dilakukan proses filtering, rectification, dan kalkulasi envelope sinyal sederhana dengan low pass filter Pole-Zero. Korelasi amplitudo envelope EMG dengan sinyal suara ketika berbicara dianalisis. Thresholding sinyal EMG dengan batas ambang ganda (onset/offset) diusulkan dalam mendeteksi sinyal wicara. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa perekaman sinyal EMG pada otot leher membutuhkan instrumentasi dengan penguatan yang jauh lebih besar. Nilai threshold untuk onset mampu mendeteksi sinyal wicara sebelum wicara terjadi dengan selang waktu sekitar 0.2 ms. Akan tetapi, offset threshold tidak mampu memberikan waktu akhir dari sinyal wicara dengan tepat, di mana deteksi wicara diakhir lebih cepat sekitar 0.12 ms dari seharusnya.

Many voice disorders are linked to imbalanced muscle activity and known to exhibit asymmetric vocal fold vibration. However, the relation between imbalanced muscle activation and asymmetric vocal fold vibration is not well understood. This study introduces an asymmetric triangular body-cover model of the vocal folds, controlled by the activation of intrinsic laryngeal muscles, to investigate the effects of muscle imbalance on vocal fold oscillation. Various scenarios were considered, encompassing imbalance in individual muscles and muscle pairs, as well as accounting for asymmetry in lumped element parameters. The results highlight the antagonistic effect between the thyroarytenoid and cricothyroid muscles on the elastic and mass components of the vocal folds, as well as the impact on the vocal process from the imbalance in the lateral cricoarytenoid and interarytenoid adductor muscles. Measurements of amplitude and phase asymmetry were employed to emulate the oscillatory behavior of two pathological cases: unilateral paralysis and muscle tension dysphonia. The resulting simulations exhibit muscle imbalance consistent with expectations in the composition of these voice disorders, yielding asymmetries exceeding 30% for paralysis and below 5% for dysphonia. This underscores the versatility of muscle imbalance in representing phonatory scenarios and its potential for characterizing asymmetry in vocal fold vibration.

ÖZETAmaç: Bu çalışmada sekiz farklı ses sistemi kullanılarak frekans ve perturbation paremetrelerini ölçmek ve programları karşılaştırmak amaçlanmıştır. Gereç ve Yön-temler: Ses hastalıkları polikliniğimize Ocak 2011 ile Aralık 2011 tarihleri arasında başvuran 131 hasta ve 36 sağlıklı gönüllü çalışmamıza dahil edildi. Arşivde yer alan bu hastalara ait uzun [a] sesleri (2 ya da 3 s'lik); MDVP, Dr Speech Vocal Assesment, Praat, LingWAVES, Voxmetria, TF32, Chaos Data Analyzer ve SpeechTool programları kullanılarak analizleri yapıldı. Ayrıca LingWAVES yazılımının Vospector modülü ve Dr Speech Vocal Assesment programlarından yararlanılarak algısal analizleri yapıldı. Çalışmada kullandığımız sekiz analiz programı ile toplam 58 aynı ve farklı gruplarda yer alan parametrelerin kendi aralarındaki korelasyon değerleri ölçüldü. Bulgular: Çalışma ve kontrol grubunun ses kayıtlarının 8 ayrı programda yapılan analizleri ile ölçülen temel frekans (F0) da MDVP ile Praat ve Dr Speech programları arasında çok güçlü korelasyon (r>0,93), Frekans pertürbation parametrelerinde WoxMetria, LingWAVES, MDVP ve Praat programları arasında çok iyi korelasyon (r>0,79), Amplitüd perturbation paremetrelerinde MDVP ile Praat, TF32 ve VoxMetria progrmları arasında çok iyi korelasyon (r>83) izlendi. Çalışmamızda afonik, ileri derecede bozuk sesleri dahil edilmediği için kaotik analiz parametreler ile diğer parametreler arasında çok iyi uyum sağlanmadı. Sonuç: Ses analizlerinde kayıt için kullanılan yazılım ve donanımın farklı olması ölçülen sonuçların farklı çıkmasında önemli bir etkendir. Standart bir donanım ve yazılım kullanılarak kaydedilen ses üzerinde ölçüm yaparak bu sakınca ortadan kaldırılmış, programlar arasındaki farklılık ön plana çıkarılmıştır. Praat programının hasta ve kontrol bireylerdeki analiz sonuçlarının en sık kullanılan ses analiz programları ile olan yüksek korelasyon ilişkisi, programının ücretsiz oluşu ve betik dile sahip olması diğer programlara göre avantaj olarak görülmüştür. Material and Methods: One hundred thirty two patients referred to our voice clinic and 36 healthy volunteers between January 2011 to December 2011, were enrolled. The archived long (2 seconds) [a] vowels were analyzed by MDVP, DrSpeech, Praat, LingWAVES, VoxMetria, TF32, Chaos Analyzer and SpeechTool programs. Eight analysis programs used and total 58 parameters were measured. Correlation between the values and parameters were calculated.
