Es wird gezeigt, daß sich die thermodynamischen und kinetischen Parameter der Reaktion
H+ + OH− ⇌ H2O in Eis
durch Kombination dreier Methoden erhalten lassen.
1. Messung der Gleichstromleitfähigkeit, 2. Messung des Sättigungsstromes, 3. Bestimmung des Dissoziationsfeldeffektes.
Der Absolutwert und die Temperaturabhängigkeit der Gleichstromleitfähigkeit und des Sättigungsstromes wurden durch Messungen an sehr reinen H2O‐ und D2O‐Eiskristallen ermittelt. Der Dissoziationsfeldeffekt in H2O‐Eis ließ sich als Abweichung vom Sättigungsstrom bei hohen Feldstärken beobachten.
Frühere Messungen an H2O‐Eis wurden im wesentlichen bestätigt. Die Messungen an D2O‐Eis zeigen sehr große Isotopieeffekte, die im Zusammenhang mit den Differenzen der Nullpunktsenergien der Valenzschwingungen von Proton und Deuteron diskutiert werden.
Der Unterschied in den Beweglichkeiten von Proton (∼ 0;08 cm2/V sec) und Deuteron (∼ 0,01 cm2/V sec) läßt sich durch den besonderen Bewegungsmechanismus der Ladungsträger im Eis deuten. Es wird gezeigt, daß der Sprung des Protons in der Wasserstoffbrücke der geschwindigkeitsbestimmende Schritt des Ladungstransportes ist.
