Measurements of enthalpy of sublimation of Ne, N2, O2, Ar, CO2, Kr, Xe, and H2O using a double paddle oscillator

Abstract: We report precise experimental values of the enthalpy of sublimation (Δ ) of quenched condensed films of neon (Ne), nitrogen (N), oxygen (O), argon (Ar), carbon dioxide (CO), krypton (Kr), xenon (Xe), and water (HO) vapor using a single consistent measurement platform. The experiments are performed well below the triple point temperature of each gas and fall in the temperature range where existing experimental data is very limited. A 6 cm and 400 µm thick double paddle oscillator (DPO) with high quality factor… Show more

“…Due to a large amount of missing Δ H S data below the triple point, Shakeel et al (2017) conducted experiments to find Δ H S for SNe, SN 2 , SO 2 , SAr, SCO 2 , solid krypton (Kr), solid xenon (SXe), and water ice. A double‐paddle oscillator (DPO) was employed for measurements.…”

“…Generally, the Δ H S drops with increasing temperature, since less energy should be required to phase change SN 2 to a gas at higher temperatures. Shakeel et al (2017) measured, then averaged the Δ H S for the range of 23–27.5 K; the minimum and maximum temperatures were plotted for this measurement.…”
