Measurement and analysis of delivery van vibration levels to simulate package testing for parcel delivery in Hungary

Abstract: In the past several decades, there continues to be an increase in both domestic and international online and catalogue shipments that requires an increase in shipments and handling of parcels by single parcel delivery companies. This study measured the vibration levels that occur in parcel delivery shipments from pickup to delivery, especially the sections involving delivery vans and small vehicles over ground road transportation in Hungary. Goods that were shipped in the regions studied almost always travel a… Show more

“…The profiles of ISTA 3A and ASTM D7386 are the closest to those being used for vans as pickup and delivery vehicles, however, they do not tell what percentile has been used. The profiles were selected to compare the data collected from the mini van.…”

“…As expected, signal triggered events dominated the number of total events in all measurements. As previous researchers, the undesirable events such as non‐vibration featured movements with resultant G rms below 0.03G were filtered out from the analysis. The number of events of each journey was displayed in Table .…”

“…The unit of PD is G 2 /Hz, and the calculated data are presented from 1 to 200 Hz in this study. Here, it has to be noted that the noise floor of the SAVER 3X90 is around 0.02 G RMS at a 500‐Hz bandwidth, so the events below this limit were filtered out from the analysis, as previous research has already done . This is in addition to those events that happened during the handlings or transshipments to obtain pure vibration events.…”

“…These three representative vehicles were chosen for vibration signal measurements with different payload on the urban road of the Pearl River Delta Region in South China, as shown in Figure . As previous researchers, the undesirable events such as nonvibration featured movements with resultant G rms below 0.03 G were filtered out from the analysis. Table shows the detail information of each measurement.…”
