Maxillary Lymphosarcoma in a White-tailed Deer (Odocoileus virginianus)

Abstract: In 1996, lymphosarcoma was observed in a captive adult female white-tailed deer (Odocoileus virginianus) from northeastern Kansas (USA). A subcutaneous mass on the deer's left cheek was surgically removed and lymphosarcoma was diagnosed. The mass recurred within 3 wk. A second surgical removal was attempted but the tumor had grown much larger, had become intimately involved with the buccal mucosa, and was beginning to interfere with mastication.
