Mathematical Model and Simulation Study of a Closed-poultry House Environment

Abstract: The temperature and humidity inside poultry houses are highly coupled through nonlinear psychrometric processes, and the limitation of actuators makes this type of system difficult to control. To understand the dynamics of such systems and further to design a suitable controller, in this study, the mathematical model for a closed poultry house was derived from the governing equations of the various components related to the poultry house, including the energy and mass balance and the psychrometric correlations… Show more

“…In contrast, our model was validated for 292 d, using over 36 000 records of continuous measurements. Except for the models developed by van Wagenberg et al (2004) and Upachaban et al (2016), the aim of the models discussed was to predict indoor temperature outside the animal occupied zone.…”

“…Other models have been validated over short periods, which does not ensure the robustness of the model or the incorporation of the effects of animal growth. For instance, Upachaban et al (2016) validated their model for three days,…”

“…System dynamics are used when creating highly abstract simulations of social engineering systems (Husin et al, 2015;Upachaban et al, 2016). As such, they are what tends to be used as a simulation paradigm to model trends like the spread of infectious diseases (Mecoli et al, 2013;Upadhyay and Roy, 2014).…”

“…For the first category, there are several related studies that have been done. Among them is by setting the temperature at the farm [1], or by choosing the best location to be broiler farm [2], and simulating mathematically the environment of broiler farms [3]. For the second category, among others, research related to broiler health level affected by viral infection, causing large-scale harvest failure and reduced stock of broiler meat and influencing the economy of a country [4].…”
